Created in the stairwell of the Convento dei Servi de Maria in Orvieto, Italy, this piece highlights the architectural features of the convent by slowing down one’s perception of space. People generally move quickly in stairwells, without awareness of their surroundings. The hovering forms of intersected olive leaves shift with the air current causing the shadows to move about and emphasize the walls. The olive leaves from outside of the architecture become the vehicle for shifting perceptions and awareness of the space.
